Learning to drive in Sidcup and SE London: local roads and test centres
Lessons start outside Sidcup Tesco. On day one, your instructor will take you to a quiet residential area to start with the basics. Once you’ve gained confidence you’ll then branch out around the town centre, Sidcup High Street and Sidcup Hill encountering traffic lights, parked cars, bus stops and pedestrian crossings. Residential roads towards Blackfen and Albany Park help you learn about narrow gaps and junctions with limited views as you progress through your driving experience.
Later in the week we’ll take you onto the A20 Sidcup Bypass, a fast dual carriageway with 50mph and 70mph sections. Frognal Corner, where it crosses the A222, and Crittall’s Corner further east are large junctions where lanes split early, so planning ahead matters. This is where looking indicating and merging at speed will be learnt and refined. The A2 is a short drive north for more consistent high-speed practice, covered later in the week.
The practical test centre is at Crayside on the Five Arches Business Estate in Foots Cray, just off the A20 and Maidstone Road. Routes often include the Sidcup Bypass, Crittall’s Corner and residential streets such as Rectory Lane, that’s why we cover them as part of your intensive driving learning journey.

Your theory test, car hire and a lesson prior to your first driving test is included in the course price.
Practical test is subject to pupil test readiness and availability. Bookings are the responsibility of the pupil but 5Day are happy to offer guidance.

Complete your final practical intensive driving sessions focused on fine-tuning driving skills and identifying areas to improve so you are driving test ready
Once you’ve passed your theory and you’re test-ready, we’ll guide you through booking your practical test
