19/10/09 - Beware of bogus driving instructors
In the UK it is illegal for anyone to get paid for working as a driving instructor without being a registered ADI ( Approved Driving Instructor) with the DSA (Driving Standards Association).
Recently Susan Wilson of Woodbridge in Suffolk was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for working as a driving instructor without being a registered ADI. This story is not uncommon; in 2006 Donald Johnston was convicted for the same offence.
It is standard procedure for ADIs to display their ADI badge in the car's window screen whilst they are giving tuition. ADI badges come in two types, pink for trainee driving instructors and green for fully qualified ADIs.
However, if you have any queries on whether a driving instructor is on the ADI register then contact the DSA for clarification.
If you attend a 5DAY intensive driving course you don't have to worry. All of our instructors are DSA qualified with years of combined experience, ensuring the very best driving tuition the industry has to offer!
